Shamrock are the great candidate to win the league again being the strongest team in Ireland at the moment being undefeated last season.

Dundalk are one of their biggest rivals, being the team that dominated Irish football in the last decade but stumbled last year. The third in contention will be the Bohemians, current runners-up.

The newcomers are Drogheda United and Longford who return to the first division after their passage through the lower category.
